The Calgary area holds 9 of the 30 venues on this site, and the Edmonton area holds 8. Grey Eagle Resort & Casino, owned by the Tsuut'ina Nation, sits on Tsuut'ina Nation land at Calgary's southwest edge. West of Edmonton, River Cree Resort & Casino stands on Enoch Cree Nation land, south of Whitemud Drive. Century Mile, at Edmonton International Airport in Leduc County, runs horses on a full one-mile track.

Between the two cities, Central Alberta has 5 venues. Bear Hills Casino & Travel Resort is one of them, off Highway 2 between Ponoka and Wetaskiwin, near Maskwacis. It gives a highway location rather than a street address.

Further out, the North has 5 venues and the South has 3. Rivers Casino & Entertainment Centre is at 9825 Hardin Street in Fort McMurray. Lethbridge has two: PURE Casino Lethbridge and Bullys Casino, a racetrack casino at the Rocky Mountain Turf Club.

One more detail sets Alberta apart. It is the only province in Canada where charitable organizations are licensed to conduct and manage casino events.

Alberta sets 18 as the minimum age for gambling. Any guest who looks under 25 has to show casino staff valid government-issued photo ID.

Winner's Edge, AGLC's loyalty program, works at casinos and racing entertainment centres across the province, with points earned on carded play. River Cree runs its own Players Club, and the PURE casinos also have PURE Rewards. Every venue offers an info centre and GameSense Advisors, both part of AGLC's responsible gambling program.

    Regulated online play

How online play works in Alberta

    July 13, 2026Market opened

The regulated online gaming market in Alberta went live on July 13, 2026. Regulation sits with AGLC, while management belongs to the Alberta iGaming Corporation (AiGC). AGLC registration plus an operating agreement signed with AiGC: an online operator needs both to work legally. Registered sites have to limit play to people who are physically in Alberta, and the minimum legal age is 18.

Run by AGLC, Play Alberta (PlayAlberta.ca) is the online gaming site that belongs to the province. That revenue flows to the Government of Alberta.

    1. Open the AiGC directory

Directory of registered iGaming sites kept by AiGC at abigaming.ca/players/registered-igaming-sites, showing which sites have authorisation to operate.

    2. Find the site's name

Search for the exact name of the site. Not in the directory means not regulated in Alberta.

    3. Look for the AiGC logo

Approved operators display the AiGC logo. Before any first deposit, set a spending limit and keep to it.

    Questions

    Is this site a casino?

No, it is a guide, never a casino. It accepts no wagers and opens no player accounts; instead, it maps land-based venues and explains how playing online works.

Where are the opening hours on this site?

Each venue page of this guide has a "Plan your visit" table with the hours the venue publishes for the casino floor, live tables and poker. Each line is dated and shows which venue page it comes from. When a venue's own pages disagree, the table says so instead of picking one. Holiday hours can differ, so check with the venue before setting out.

At what age can you gamble legally in Alberta?

The legal age is 18. Staff will ask for a valid photo ID from a government body when a visitor appears to be under 25.

Is online gambling legal in Alberta?

Alberta's regulated online market launched on July 13, 2026. Check any site in the AiGC directory at abigaming.ca/players/registered-igaming-sites before signing up. Play Alberta is AGLC's own online site.

Who owns Deerfoot Inn & Casino now?

PURE has run Deerfoot Inn & Casino since completing its Gamehost purchase on June 24, 2026.

Where does the Casino online button lead?

It leads to an online casino operated by a partner, and the partner may change. The link pays this site a commission. The destination is not Play Alberta, and the province does not operate it.

An online casino through a partner link

A partner, not this site, operates the online casino that the button below opens. The destination is not Play Alberta, and the province does not operate it. The link earns this site a commission, and a different partner could take its place.

Before signing up anywhere, check the site's name in the AiGC directory of registered iGaming sites.
